OnePlus Two Rumored For October Release
The OnePlus One was one of the hottest smartphones of the year. Boasting a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of random access memory (RAM), a 16-megapixel primary camera, and a beautiful full-HD 5.5 display, it rivaled some of the market’s leading handsets. However, the real beauty of this device was its rock-bottom price tag of just $349 for the 16GB model and $399 for the 64GB model. Well, it appears OnePlus is now preparing to release a new handset, which is expected to hit stores later this year.
So, how do we know that OnePlus is planning to release a successor to its highly popular flagship smartphone? The company has been talking about the device for a while, although it hasn’t released any official details. Earlier this month, however, they dropped the price of the original OnePlus One down to $299/$349 — a $50 discount. This would lead to many people to believe that OnePlus is trying to clear up inventory space so it can make room for the upcoming OnePlus Two.
Of course, many people assumed OnePlus would be unveiling its new handset on June 1, as it tweeted the following promotional message: “We’re always looking for ways to shake up the tech industry. And we think it’s time for change. Find out more June 1.” When June 1st rolled around, though, the only news we received was the $50 discount on the OnePlus One. That’s still good news, especially for people who were late to lay their hands on the OnePlus One, but it’s raised even more questions about when the OnePlus Two will be released.
Rumors circulating the Internet suggest the OnePlus Two will be released around September or October of this year. This would make sense considering the original OnePlus One was released around this time (slightly before) this time last year. And it’s always a smart idea to release a new product around the holidays, because that’s when most people are in the spending mood.
In terms of specs, everything is pure speculation at this point, but some experts believe it will feature a 5.5-inch display (2560 x 1440 resolution), an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of random access memory (RAM), a 16-megapixel primary camera, and a 5-megapixel secondary camera.
