Android-Powered Arya Z2 Smartphone Launches
2014 is the year of the budget-friendly smartphones. First, is was Google who released the $100 Android One devices, and now it’s Arya who’s following in the Mountain View company’s footsteps with the powerful yet inexpensive Arya Z2.
Arya isn’t a major smartphone manufacturer like Samsung, HTC or Motorola. This Indian based startup is relatively new to the game, but don’t let that fool you into thinking they deliver sub-part products. Earlier this week, the company launched its newest flagship smartphone, the Arya Z2. And while it may not feature the same high-end specs as the Galaxy S5, it’s still a brilliantly crafted smartphone with decent specs at an ultra-affordable price.
The Arya Z2 features a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB internal storage, 8-megapixel primary camera (Interpolated to 13 MP), 2-megapixel secondary camera (Interpolated to 5 MP), Micro SD card expansion, and dual SIM slots. Of course, it also runs the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android 4.4, and it will likely upgrade to Android 5.0 when it’s released. The Arya Z2 also introduces voice-controlled photo technology, allowing users to take photos simply by seeing “snap” or “cheese.” This nifty feature is sure to attract some photo-centric consumers.
In terms of size, the Arya Z2 is approximately 73.7 x 147.1 x 7.55 mm and weighs just 155 grams. It’s not a phablet by any means, but it’s large enough to accommodate the needs of most users. It offers a brilliantly colored display with strong hardware powering the device.
So, how much does the Arya Z2 cost? It’s currently priced at Rs 6,999, which translates into roughly $114. It’s important to note, however, that the Arya Z2 just recently launched in India, so it may take a while before it reaches the U.S.
“Crafted with extreme precision, this new, feature-rich phone on the block includes standard features like GPS with A-GPS, FM Radio, USB tethering and a Wi-Fi Hot Spot too. It even has a number of sensors – proximity, accelerometer, light. In addition to these features, it even has a one-touch torch, a high quality AAC receiver for a crystal clear sound, a Mali 400 GPU for a better gaming experience, and a prominent LED indicator that flashes so bright that it will grab your attention and will never let you miss any important calls or messages,” wrote the manufacturer.
